Device42 Administrator

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Device42 Administrator with strong expertise in Enterprise CMDB, Infrastructure Discovery, Asset Management, Application Dependency Mapping and cloud/on-premises infrastructure visibility.

The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience in Device42 administration, auto-discovery configuration, monitoring rule setup, CMDB and asset management, integrations, data quality, governance, reporting, security and compliance.

The candidate should also have experience integrating Device42 with enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow and legacy monitoring or APM tools.

Key Responsibilities

1. Device42 Administration & Configuration

• Administer, configure, maintain and support the Device42 platform.
• Configure and manage Device42 monitoring rules, alerts and discovery processes.
• Perform system administration activities, including user and access management.
• Ensure the availability, performance, security and stability of the Device42 environment.

2. Enterprise Discovery & CMDB Management

• Deploy and maintain Device42 for automated infrastructure discovery across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Configure and manage Auto-Discovery for servers, network devices, applications, cloud resources and other infrastructure components.
• Maintain accurate CMDB and Asset Management data.
• Support application dependency mapping and infrastructure relationship discovery.
• Ensure continuous synchronization of Configuration Items with enterprise platforms.

3. ServiceNow Integration

• Integrate Device42 with ServiceNow CMDB for continuous Configuration Item synchronization.
• Support Configuration Management processes and ensure data consistency between Device42 and ServiceNow.
• Work with ServiceNow teams to resolve integration, data synchronization and CMDB-related issues.

4. Monitoring & Integration Management

• Configure monitoring rules and integrate alerts and metrics from legacy APM, network and infrastructure monitoring tools.
• Conduct enterprise tools assessments and identify opportunities for monitoring and discovery improvements.
• Manage Device42 integrations with other enterprise tools and platforms.
• Troubleshoot integration and data synchronization issues.

5. Infrastructure & Network Visibility

• Provide complete infrastructure and network visibility using Device42.
• Maintain accurate relationships between infrastructure components, applications, services and dependencies.
• Support discovery of physical, virtual, cloud and network environments.
• Ensure effective application dependency mapping and infrastructure inventory management.

6. Reporting, Data Quality & Governance

• Create and maintain reports and dashboards for infrastructure, assets, discovery and CMDB data.
• Monitor and improve CMDB data quality, completeness and accuracy.
• Establish and maintain data governance standards for discovered infrastructure and assets.
• Perform regular data validation, reconciliation and quality checks.

7. Security, Backup & Compliance

• Manage Device42 backup and recovery processes.
• Ensure appropriate security controls and access management.
• Support compliance and audit requirements related to CMDB and infrastructure data.
• Follow organizational security, governance and operational standards.

Additional Mandatory Experience

• Experience setting up and configuring Device42 Monitoring Rules.
• Experience integrating alerts and metrics from APM, network and infrastructure monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of Application Dependency Mapping.
• Experience managing on-premises and cloud infrastructure discovery.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with ServiceNow Configuration Management and CMDB.
• ITIL v4 Foundation Certification.
• Good understanding of Incident Management.
• Good understanding of Problem Management.
• Good understanding of Change Management.
• Experience integrating Device42 with enterprise ITSM and monitoring platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility to work during off-hours and weekends when required.

Desired Experience

• 8–12 years of overall IT experience.
• Strong experience in Device42 administration and implementation.
• Experience working with enterprise-scale CMDB, Discovery, Asset Management and Infrastructure Monitoring environments.
• Experience managing both on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant Device42, ServiceNow, ITIL or Cloud certifications will be an added advantage.
